Urgent Safety & Infrastructure Needs

The 30-year-old Solvang Festival Theater has begun to show inevitable signs of age and continued use. Although Solvang Theaterfest has funded numerous repairs to the theater, once minor issues have now become major problems. For example, the electrical conduit system is currently in danger of draining water into the main electrical distribution vault during heavy rains.

Today the theater is in urgent need of equipment upgrades and structural repairs to make it safe, functional and comfortable for audiences, performers, technicians and volunteers alike, and to establish Solvang Festival Theater as a modern, first-class performance venue. With funding from this campaign, Solvang Theaterfest will accomplish the following improvements:

	SAFETY • Install fire sprinklers • Install emergency lighting • Improve and secure platforms and   walkways • Resurface floors backstage and in   tunnels
INFRASTRUCTURE • Replace electrical system and relocate   point of entry for electrical service • Upgrade hazardous stage lighting   distribution system • Add new intercom for production staff • Add new assistive listening system and   devices for audience

STAGEHOUSE INFRASTRUCTURE
• Enable enclosure of the stagehouse after hours and off season
• Renovate dressing rooms
• Strengthen doors at load-in area
• Make structural improvements to major walls (including replace existing
  undersized framing connections)
• Upgrade work lights
